The 1854 Project honors this heroic arc—not as a tale of division, but as a testament to America's indomitable spirit. From the minutemen of Lexington to the freedmen of the Reconstruction South, our history is one of patriots rising against oppression, expanding the circle of freedom, and forever working to ensure the perfection of our Union
We invite you join The 1854 Project and the chorus of those who, like the Independent Democrats in 1854, appealed to the conscience of the nation, imploring fellow-citizens to: Stand firm for liberty, reject distortions that diminish our triumphs, and ensure that the Stars and Stripes forever wave over a land where all are truly free.
For God and Country, ~ The 1854 Project
In the spirit of our forefathers who, in 1776, boldly proclaimed that "all men are created equal", igniting a revolution against tyranny and laying the foundation for a nation dedicated to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness, to the foundation of the Republican Party on March 20th 1854, when true patriots gathered, united under the banner of "Free Soil, Free Labor, Free Men".
